practice storyboard

Here is my storyboard practice for the camera angles & movement video

What is good, easy?
- It wasn't as easy as I imagined it to be, but it was quite fun to be able to create something
that's based wholly on my imagination

What is bad, difficult?
- The difficult part I experienced is adding all detailed elements such as making sure all camera angles and movement were on my storyboard as sometimes I get carried away by drawing it.

How will this help you in the project?
- This storyboard practice allowed me to understand the structure and visualise how a storyboard works, therefore will then help me with my final storyboard project.

What will you do differently next time?
- Next time I would like to include more emphasis on the background and lighting as well as more colors in order for the storyboard to be more easily distinguishable.

Here is my first rough / draft sketch for my final storyboard project

advert proposal

This is my advert project proposal

Product: kitkat

New slogan: "in love? take a kitkat"

Duration: 30 secs

The iconic "have a break, have a kitkat" a popular slogan going on for ages and has mostly attracted the young youth as the brand itself displays itself as being "youthful" which shows how much attraction it has gained from young teenagers aged 12 to 17, which is why my advert will mostly be aimed towards young adults aged 20-30. The advert is targeted for people who are still young and dating. As enjoying something together with your partner can open you to more opportunities to get to know each other, even from heartfelt messages. Therefore, I will showcase the couple's love and sweet acts "talks, holding hands, giving gifts" over the years from senior high school to university and cuts to a part when the couple is old enough to travel together, the couple then watches scenery of the place their visiting on a bridge and her bf moves to go to a supermarket, he finds a kitkat where you can write messages on the packages he buys it and surprises his gf with it. The gf gets surprised and is touched by her bf's surprise as the message made her feel happy, in the end she opens the kitkat and breaks it in half but instead of giving the other half to his bf she ate both and then together they just started laughing and then it continues of her eating it and the slogan above.

Text Analysis - A Quiet Place

This is my first video analysis f or a Quiet place

The text was an extract from a quiet place, and the filmmaker wanted to emphasize how in the world of the movie the characters weren't allowed to make any sound, how the family were only using sign language to communicate and the town being empty showing as if only the family is left.

The producer is trying to convey how making sound is not allowed in the movie through connatations of a girl character making no noise when she walked/tiptoed through a store as seen from a close up shot with trucking movement. Therefore, the mise en scene was dark/eary to a point where you cant even see anything other than the character's feet, the floor was dirty, lights weren't working, the character didn't have any shoes on which indicated how the no unnecessary noise should be made and how the store had become dusty and abandoned with the addition of not allowing any sound to be heard from anyone not even the audience. This makes the audience curious, wanting to know more why the characters within the movie couldn't make any sound which puts the audience not at ease for whats to come next. A medium shot was also used when a small boy was trying to reach a toy rocket ship on a shelf and before he could catch it, it fell but a girl saved the toy rocket ship from falling which made the audience only hear her knees touching the ground and the rocket landing on her arms which shows diegetic sound being made.

Camera angles & movement

Presenting a video made by me and Audrey to experiment with different camera angles and movements.

  1. Medium shot

This shot technique captures the subject’s body language as a whole.

This helps the audience to deduce easily how she is feeling

(anxious, lonely, and depressed).

  1. Long shot

The shot captures a quiet situation around the subject, by this it

may emphasize more focus on the subject. Additionally, it also shows

the audience how the subject is more lonely and isolated, which shows

resemblance to the subject’s emotions. The focus on the subject

may help the audience interpret the subject’s emotions more clearly.

  1. Static

The use of this camera movement shows the loneliness and sadness

the subject is facing as the subject is going through different emotions,

and the stillness captures her emotions without any lines conveyed.

Barely any movements are recorded hence it focuses more on her reactions.

  1. Close up

This camera movement technique is mostly shown in circumstances

when the subject appears to be texting/looking into the subject’s

phone, it brings the audience’s focus on the phone (the messages)

and it explains how and why the subject is feeling down/stressed.

Another scene with this technique is also used to draw the audience’s

attention to tears as it falls to the table, this shows clearly that the

subject is feeling upset without visually seeing the subject’s emotion literally.

  1. Pull out

It makes the subject appear lonely and more “depressing” as it reveals

how the main subject is sitting all by herself, as opposed to the subject’s

surroundings. And it also disconnects with the audience as it slowly brings

the audience away from the subject.

Research

Title of the Advertisement: Bulgari Unexpected Wonder - a movie by Paolo Sorrentino

Brand/Product: jewellery (bulgari)

Duration of the Advertisement: 30 sec

Brief Overview/Summary: showcasing jewellery in a soft selling way

(in a way thats natural and not forced)

1. Target Audience

Women from the age 25 and come from a high class society as the brand (bulagari)
is known to sell expensive jewellery towards high end individuals/celebrities.This can be shown from the subjects used which are celebrities known all over the
world, so by having them "soft selling" bulgari's jewellery reaching the target
audience attended for the product sold can be highly achievable.

2. Message and Purpose

As there is a voice in the background it shows how in finding a wonder you can always start

fresh and there are no ending possibilities. The jewellery showcased was also very unique

and the 2 subjects was shown to be having fun with each other making the jewellery

seem like theres a difference to it and how each peace is detailed from the close up shots

taken during the advert. By having 2 races in the advert it shows how the jewellery

can look good on anyone making the audience more drawn into the beauty of the product

as there's always a jewellery a women can look great in.

3. Meaning and InterpretationSince the advert included a more calm and slow beat it makes the advert look more

professional, the font of text used was also matched with their brands logo

font allowing the advert to have more of an originality to it. The colour

palette used was also very neutral and put together with everything included

in the advert. Hence, why more women would buy the jewellery as it looks very

expensive and one of a kind which makes more women try to get

their hands on these specific jewellery.

4. Effectiveness

The calm paced advert and neutral elements and specialized contents made the advert

mostly have a very professional market and what it's aiming for it's target audience (high

class women) and since they are more willing to spend on something expensive if its

showcased well. The addition of famous celebrities such as Anne Hathaway

and Zendaya also amped up the entirety of the advert as they are very

influential towards the public. The location of the advert being in Rome also

adds a more lavish approach making the jewellery look very high end, the different

shots taken in a large and extravagant home also conveyed a message that the

brand is very luxurious making women wanting to purchase the jewellery.

5. Personal Response

Made me feel like the brand was very high end and almost untouchable since

the subject and products looked very expensive but i really loved the whole

theme for the advert as it looked very professional and well made

since all the components from "soft selling" to the different locations,

jewellery, outfits was very spot on and made the advert looked beautiful

put together.

feel more excited. Since colourful elements such as the theme of the game

and the overall colour palette used was very bright it allow's girls to feel moreattracted and more likely to download and interact with the game.

4. Effectiveness

The playful contents and colourful elements throughout the game really

helped engage with the target audience (little girls) as children are more

  • Another advert selling the same insurance would be AXA car insurance.

  • As it used a very interesting subject (gorilla) it will gain more attraction to the main

target audience (as childrens love animals).
  • It mainly shows that the advert is very humorous as no one has really heard a gorilla

playing the drums and it also used an inconic song making the advert easily recognizable.

5. Personal Response

  • It really made me laugh and shocked as you dont see many gorilla's playing drums.

  • This makes cadbury more memorable since it has a subject that

entertains the audience and catches their attention.

6. Comparative Analysis (Optional)

  • One would be hershey and a big difference is that hershey showcases its products.
  • As cadbury's advert is more humorous and out of the box it really
